Ride and Hike Through Three Minnesota State Parks on Lake Superior
Visualize being able to experience not just one...but three Minnesota State Parks along Lake Superior in the same day!
Split Rock Lighthouse State Park is also the site of the Split Rock Lighthouse and History Center . Split Rock Lighthouse is one of the most visited lighthouses in the United States. The 25 acre Split Rock Lighthouse Historic Site and History Center is administered by The Minnesota Historical Society. The Split Rock light station has been restored to its pre-1924 appearance and can be toured. What a great reason to get off the trikes and bikes and take a walk back into the past. Virtually all of our excursions pass through Split Rock. By the way, the park has over four miles of shoreline.
Gooseberry Falls State Park is situated on the western end of the Gitchi-Gami State Trail. This trail (which is our primary venue) will eventually be an all blacktop 87 mile trail along Lake Superior connecting Two Harbors to Grand Marais Mn. Consider this: The combination of Lake Superior shoreline, multiple water falls, and lots of hiking trails make Gooseberry the second most visited state park in Minnesota.
We start our excursions at Gooseberry Falls State Park if the wind is blowing from the west. We actually, though, prefer to end our excursions at Gooseberry with the wind to our backs. If we have that following wind from the east there is an absolutely delightful 1 and 1/2 mile downhill ride that ends in the lakeside picnic area. Our unofficial motto is "One way...Downhill...and With the wind!" Smiles all around!
Tettegouche State Park is at the eastern end of our excursions. The blacktop trail does not, as yet, connect to Tettegouche State Park...but we do...with our van and trailer. Incredible hiking, both inland and along Lake Superior make Tettegouche State Park a "Don't Miss" location.
One could spend the entire day at each park. So much to see and do! Be sure to check out the photos we've included. They'll be sure to get your heart pumping.
NOW....put this all together with a guide who's lived on the shore for 40 years.... AND prepare to hop on our incredible trikes (or the extra bikes and kid trailers). We'll get you to places that 99% of the visitors don't even know exist! How good is that?
The shore and parks await you in a way you never imagined was even possible!. Check out the rest of our site to get a feeling as to what Trikes For life Excursions is all about. then connect with us via e-mail or better yet a phone call. We'll fill in the details from there.
